The Buffalo Bills have been relatively quiet throughout the 2022 NFL Offseason. Other teams like the Denver Broncos and the Washington Commanders acquired their future quarterbacks, while the Bills have a relatively set roster. However, wide receiver Cole Beasley requested a trade during the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.
According to a tweet from the Bills Communications Department
A few weeks later, the team released the veteran wide receiver. The Bills Communications Department tweeted the roster move at noon on Thursday.
This is a great move for the Bills, one of many teams working to clear up cap space. According to The Buffalo News, this move saves the team $6.1 million. This is a large part of the $30 million in cap space that team should create this offseason (per The Buffalo News).
The 32-year-old will enter his eleventh season in the NFL as a free agent. He went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and was signed by the Dallas Cowboys shortly after. Beasley spent seven seasons with the Cowboys before joining the Bills in 2019.
Beasley just finished his third season with the Bills. He recorded 82 receptions for 693 yards and one touchdown in the regular season. In Buffalo's two playoff games, Beasley had seven receptions for a total of 79 yards.
The 2020 Second-team All-Pro receiver is now up for grabs as the free agency frenzy continues.
