Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly could only feel elated as the franchise has managed to find another great quarterback a couple of decades after his retirement. Kelly had high praises for Bills gunslinger Josh Allen who is already close to shattering his franchise records in the not-so-distant future.

“I'm excited, because if he's breaking my records that means we're winning,” Kelly said via CP24.

“I'll put it this way, if Josh Allen is with us for 10-plus years, he will be breaking his own records,” he continued. “I pull for him every time. … I'm like a little kid.”

Kelly made a name for himself in the league after playing for the Bills from 1986 to 1996 where he garnered five Pro Bowl appearances and led the franchise to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances.

Meanwhile, Allen looks to make his own imprint for the franchise as he continues on his breakthrough campaign. He already garnered 39 total touchdowns through 14 games played this season which already eclipsed Kelly's record of 34 back in 1991. Allen's 30 passing touchdowns are also on the verge of breaking Kelly's franchise record tally of 33 in the same season.

With exactly 4,000 passing yards through Week 15 of the 2020 season, Allen has already exceeded every single one of Kelly's season totals to climb up to second place on the franchise record list. The third-year playmaker is also 359 yards away from eclipsing Drew Bledsoe's record back in 2002 heading to Week 16 of the season.

On top of his huge individual tallies, Allen found himself at the forefront of the Bills' resurgence. He's already led the team to snag its first AFC East divisional crown since 1995. With an 11-3 record heading towards the home stretch of the season, the Bills are looking ahead to making a deep run in the postseason.

If the Bills can successfully claim the franchise's first Super Bowl title by the end of the season, Jim Kelly will be the first to congratulate Josh Allen.
