The Buffalo Bills managed to dodge a bullet after cornerback Tre'Davious White. Despite rumblings otherwise, White opted to stay in training camp to prepare for the 2020 NFL season following Thursday's deadline. Cornerback Josh Norman is now fully convinced of where this defense stands among the NFL's elite.

Norman feels that the Bills easily have the best secondary in the league, via Maddy Glab of the team's official website:

“We have the best secondary in the league,” Norman said, via the team’s website. “I think guys really sleep on Micah [Hyde] and [Jordan] Poyer back there. It’s because they really do a great job over the top and then coming down in the box as well. They are two of the best tandems in the league. And then you have Tre obviously on the other side. He does a great job at just keying in on his man, and having a guy in that position to go day in and day out and make a play. Then you have Levi [Wallace] on the other side, he’s doing a great job. Taron [Johnson] in the nickel, you have so many guys that you can put into this position in secondary, and you see what they’ve done the last couple of years being in the top of the league.”

Norman certainly has good reason to be confident. Just looking at the list of names that fill up the Bills' depth chart puts them over the top. Aside from just being good on paper, they were able to solidify this argument with their dominant outing during the 2019 campaign.

The onus will fall on Josh Norman to provide some much-needed veteran experience. Norman has to be the leading voice for this talented, young group in Buffalo. He signed with them in free agency following an unceremonious departure from the Washington Football Team. His comments certainly indicate that he is confident in a potential resurgence this season.

With quarterback Tom Brady out of town, the Bills have been pegged as the favorites to take over as the new heavyweights in the AFC East.
