Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was a highly touted prospect coming out of the University of Wyoming in the collegiate ranks. However, he dropped to the seventh pick of the 2018 NFL Draft after previous racism issues resurfaced prior to the draft proceedings.

Allen's recent success and continuous development as a playmaker in the league have already made Bills general manager Brandon Beane look like a genius by way of the franchise-changing draft selection. In fact, the executive was just recently rewarded with a five-year contract extension to remain at the helm for the Bills.

Beane went on to spill how he came up with the decision to take the chance on the quarterback despite the issues that previously surfaced. Contrary to the allegations, Allen turned out to be a high character individual based on the suggestions of the people who were around him dating back to his college days.

“You’ve got to talk to teammates. You’ve got to talk to obviously coaches. You’ve got to talk to people in the school,” Beane said, via NewYorkUpstate.com. “How does this person treat an intern? How does this person treat a classmate? How does this person treat the lowest guy? You know they’re going to treat their head coach well. But how do they treat a position coach?”

The choice ultimately served to be a good decision for the Bills who finally have a franchise quarterback on their hands. Luckily for them, Allen has also been progressing well and delivering for them on the field thus far.

“Whether you thought he was going to be a good player or not, if you’re around this young man, you knew that he was going to leave no stone unturned to be the best player he can be,” Beane said. “And I was willing, and we as an organization were willing, to live or die with that. And Josh has done everything we’ve asked him.”

Currently in his third campaign in the league, the 24-year-old has been on a steady upswing over the years. He has already emerged as an MVP candidate with tallies of 3,403 passing yards on 428 attempts and 26 scored touchdowns through 12 games played this season.

He will continue on his impressive showing with a tough test as his team faces the dominant Pittsburgh Steelers for Week 14 proceedings. With a 9-3 record to sit atop the AFC East division, the Bills are poised for a playoff run this season and will continue to lean on Josh Allen to lead them to the promised land in the near future.
