C.J. McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers achieved a milestone in their 120-111 home victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. The 27-year old guard notched his first ever triple-double in his sixth season in the NBA.

No Damian Lillard, no problem. The Portland Trailblazers didn't seem to miss their All-Star all too much as McCollum stepped up with the best all-around performance of his career. With his backcourt mate on the shelf due to right knee soreness, it was McCollum's time to shine and be the primary ball handler for the Blazers.

McCollum scored 28 points on 10-of-23 shooting from the field to lead all Blazers scorers, and added 10 boards and 10 assists. His career night helped the Blazers take out the lowly Hawks, 120-111.

The Lehigh standout got his triple-double with just 38 seconds left in the game after working in the last couple of minutes to get that final assist to achieve the feat. McCollum finally got his assist after zipping a pass to Moe Harkless for an easy finish under the basket. He entered the fourth quarter two assists and two rebounds shy of the feat, and almost everybody in the arena was aware of it.

We all know that McCollum can get buckets with the best of them. He is a natural born scorer who can make shots from anywhere on the floor. However, playing alongside Lillard, he hasn't been able to showcase his playmaking ability all that much.

He took advantage of that tonight and showed the entire league what he is truly capable of when given the chance.
