The Portland Trail Blazers don't want to struggle for the remainder of the season, so it's likely that the front office will make a move before the trade deadline to ensure the good run the Blazers are experiencing currently. While some would protest against making a trade, it's unlikely that Damian Lillard and the fans will be able to stop GM Neil Olshey from making a move.

However, the Blazers are playing really good basketball lately. And if their current run of form is for real, then there's a real argument against making a trade before the trade deadline.

The team captain appealed, via The Athletic's Jason Quick, about not rushing to a trade before the deadline now that they found their winning formula with Trevor Ariza.

And inside the locker room, where the players almost always shy away from meddling in Olshey’s business, the captain and franchise star on Saturday said this recent stretch needs to be part of the equation when decisions are made leading up to Thursday.

“I think it’s definitely a conversation,” Lillard told The Athletic when asked if this team needs to be kept together to continue its momentum. “We are moving, and it’s against good teams. Golden State, Indiana, Houston, Lakers, Utah … I mean, good wins, so there’s something to be said about it.”

The Blazers have won five of their six games ever since trading with the Sacramento Kings for Trevor Ariza on January 19. They beat the Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Utah Jazz. Many of these teams are playoff-bound, so the current rotation is working for the Blazers just fine.

Rosters are fickle things: it can easily be ruined if one piece is changed for another. Blazers players and fans are hoping that their GM won't make any reckless move and let this new team develop.
