Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard has been linked to several trade rumors this past 2021 offseason. At one point, it even looked like he's done with the team and was instead aiming to join a franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers where he has the best chance to win a title. Obviously, he stayed and is now playing in his 10th year for Rip City.

Of course Lillard knows that his refusal to join a super team in an era where the best way to win a title is to pair up with other superstars has been the biggest criticism on him. However, the Blazers guard wants to prove to everyone that he can do what a few others before him has achieved.

He hinted as much in a recent appearance on “Bars On I-95, in which he rapped his way to share his thoughts on joining a super team. He gave a special shoutout to Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, who both defeated superteams and won the title despite not having the same star-studded squad.

Here's how his freestyle went, via Reddit:

“Dame Lillard, DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, trill…

Me not wanting to join a super team might end up being my Achilles' heel…

Hector, I’m on my shield…

Trying to get next to Freak and Dirk on that lonely hill…

Now my goal's revealed so fuck you, the reporters thinking my homies squealed…”

Aside from the fact that Damian Lillard just claimed the “NBA Best Rapper” title with that freestyle, he also showed he is as loyal as it gets.

There are only a few NBA players willing to stay on a small market team and try to win a championship, but it's clear Lillard is determined to reach the promised land with the Blazers.

Hopefully, though, that loyalty pays off and doesn't end up being his true “Achilles heel.” The Blazers have one of the best players in the NBA, but he certainly needs help to win it all.
