Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard had quite an evening on Thursday, knocking down a career-high-tying 11 3-pointers in a 125-115 victory over the Denver Nuggets. In the process, Lillard joins the Splash Brothers of the Golden State Warriors as the only three players in league history to have made at least 11 triples in a game on more than one occasion.
Damian Lillard joins quite a company in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in this extremely short list, which is without a doubt some of the greatest shooters of all time.
Before anything else, have a look at Damian Lillard's 11 triples as he caught fire on Thursday night.
Damian Lillard finished with a game-high 45 points on 13-of-21 shooting (11-of-18 from distance), along with four rebounds, 12 dimes, three steals, and just two turnovers in 41 minutes of action. Dame was absolutely cooking tonight.
This was a huge win for Portland, as they have now closed the gap between themselves and the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies (who lost to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday) to just half a game. The Blazers and Damian Lillard have won three out of their four seeding games thus far, and it is clear that they have momentum on their side.
Damian Lillard and company will have the night off on Friday, but will be back in action on Saturday as they take on one of the best teams in the conference in the Los Angeles Clippers. That should be quite a matchup between two outstanding sides looking to secure their respective positioning in a ruthless Western Conference.
