Portland Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard is not expected to require surgery on his injured knee, according to a report from ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

Lillard suffered a pair of injuries in Portland's first round matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. In Game 2, he dislocated his left index finger. He was able to continue playing in the series, though his finger was braced and taped.

“It's just sore,” Damian Lillard said after being held to 18 points in Game 2, via ESPN. “A little bit tender to the touch. Dislocated it. A little bit sore, a little bit swollen. Uncomfortable.”

In Game 4, the Blazers star scored 11 points before leaving the game in the third quarter due to a knee injury, MRI scans later revealed the ailment to be a sprain. The former Weber State standout is on his way back to Portland for further evaluation, but no surgery is expected to take place, according to Spears' report.

Lillard has been the driving force behind Portland's run in the 2020 NBA Playoffs. He racked up several impressive performances, including a 34-point effort against the Lakers in Game 1. His injury is unfortunate, but it's good to hear that it won't require surgery.

The Lakers and Blazers were supposed to play Game 5 on Wednesday night, but the games were postponed in the wake of Jacob Blake's shooting by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Thursday's playoff games were also postponed. However, the players have voted to resume the season, so it sounds like Friday's game between these two teams will be played.
