Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard is still keeping an eye on former teammate Gary Trent Jr. After the Toronto Raptors guard knocked down the game-winning three-pointer against the Washington Wizards on Monday, Lillard heaped praise on Trent with a series of tweets.

In just his sixth gaming donning the Raptors jersey, Trent already made his mark by draining the game-winning shot from deep to defeat the Wizards, 103-101. He finished the game with 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Lillard was so impressed with Trent's performance that he retweeted the clutch highlight.

Lillard also retweeted Trent's averages over the last four games with the Raptors. Dame must've been sad to see his former teammate get traded away. But it seems he's also proud that Trent is doing great things with his new squad.

The Trent trade, which also sent Rodney Hood to the Raptors and Norman Powell to the Trail Blazers, was one of the lowkey transactions during the NBA trade deadline. The deal was actually a big deal for both parties. After all, Powell was having a career season yet the Raptors were struggling to squeeze out victories. Lillard and the Trail Blazers, meanwhile, were doing better than the Raptors but were still stick in a mid-tier rut in the tough Western Conference.

The addition of Gary Trent Jr. to the Raptors could help them squeeze into the NBA Playoffs through the play-in tournament. With the way he's been balling out recently, he could be the swing factor. And for sure, Damian Lillard will be there to root for him.
