The Portland Trail Blazers are officially heading to the Western Conference playoffs to face the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers—a matchup that, unsurprisingly, does not intimidate Damian Lillard.

While Dame clearly respects the challenge the Lakers pose, he likes his team's chances against LeBron James, Anthony Davis and company.

“They’re the number one seed in the West for a reason. They have the best player in the world,” he said after Portland's 126-122 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, via the Washington Post's Ben Golliver.

“We feel like we have a chance in a series against any team in this league. We feel like we have a chance in this series.”

NBA veteran and former All-Star Carmelo Anthony expressed a similar sentiment earlier in the week, telling ESPN's Rachel Nichols that while making the playoffs was the initial goal, he believes the Blazers his better than your typical No. 8 seed.

“We don’t consider ourselves an eight seed…We consider ourselves a very good basketball team coming together at the right time…Our mindset is: that’s the spot we wanted,” Anthony said.

The Lakers finished the 2019-20 regular season at 52-19, but won just three of their eight seeding games. L.A. has looked like a completely different team in Orlando, putting up just 106.4 points per game after the restart compared to 114.3 points a night in the pre-bubble season.

Lillard was named bubble MVP of the seeding games after heroically leading his team to a 6-2 record while averaging a staggering 37.6 points and 9.6 assists per game, shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 43.6 percent from deep, and 88.8 from the free throw line in the eight bubble contests ahead of the postseason.

Portland went 0-2 against the Lakers last winter, but the Blazers now boast a healthier roster, plus Anthony.

The highly anticipated first-round matchup will tip-off on Tuesday night (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on TNT).
