Former All-Star and scoring savant Carmelo Anthony is yet to be signed to an NBA roster, so Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard campaigned for Melo and urged other teams to take a shot at the now 35-year-old forward.

Unfortunately for both Damian Lillard and Carmelo Anthony, it remains a stretch that a team takes up a valuable roster spot by signing Anthony.

Anthony's last sighting in the NBA ended in disaster. After signing a one-year, veteran's minimum deal with the Houston Rockets, fans expected Melo to be the third piece that Houston was missing. Instead, he posted career-low numbers and only played 10 games for the team. In the end, the 10-time All-Star was traded to the Chicago Bulls who promptly waived the former Syracuse star.

Now, Anthony needs to find a team to take a chance on him so he can prove that he still has some gas left in the tank. There is no question that he will go down as one of the best scorers in history, and he is a near-lock for the Hall of Fame. Perhaps one team will look at Anthony's pedigree and hope that he can still perform at a small percentage of what he was capable of.

Anthony deserves a farewell tour after an excellent career. Hopefully, Lillard can motivate some front offices to make it happen.
