Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons will be participating in his first-ever Slam Dunk competition, and it seems like he's going to be bringing some help with him. Simons told The Athletic's Jason Quick that he is probably going to use the assistance of Damian Lillard for one of his dunks.

“I will probably use Dame in one of my dunks, but I don't know what I'm going to do yet,” the Blazers' third-year guard said.

Damian Lillard, who will be an All-Star for the sixth time in his career, will be in Atlanta to participate in the All-Star Game and the 3-point competition. However, it appears he will have some added duties with Anfernee Simons insinuating that he will use his help for one of his dunks.

Lillard has some experience in the slam dunk competition, as he participated in it himself back in 2014. Simons has also been using his Blazers teammate Derrick Jones Jr. as a reference, especially since DJJ won it last year.

“We are going back and forth, if he sees something that is good, he will send it to me, and I will send something to him, saying we should think about this,” Simons said of his coordination with Jones.

Simons is looking to become the first Trail Blazers player in history to be crowned a Slam Dunk champion. He joins the rank of other Portland  players to have participated in the Slam Dunk Competition like Lillard, Rudy Fernandez, Jerome Kersey, James Robinson and Clyde Drexler. Jones Jr. was a member of the Miami Heat last year when he took him the hardware.
