“Not true sir.” This was Jontay Porter’s response to a report claiming that he inked a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Alex Schiffer of The Kansas City Star reported Friday that Porter signed with the Blazers. However, the undrafted Missouri big man quickly shot down the report on Twitter.

Porter, a talented 6-foot-11 center, was projected to find a professional home in the 2019 NBA Draft but wound up going undrafted as organizations were wary to select the injured sibling of Michael Porter Jr.

Jontay tore both his MCL and ACL in an October scrimmage with the Missouri Tigers and later declared for the 2019 draft.

It’s unclear at the moment whether Porter referred to Schiffer’s claim that he reached terms with the Blazers or that he would be unable to play for “months.”

Right now, it’s believed that the 19-year-old is denying the claim that he’s headed to the Rose City.

Prior to his pre-season injury, Porter impressed fans and scouts with his play during the 2017-18 campaign. He averaged 9.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 blocks in 33 appearances for the Tigers. Porter shot 43.7 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from 3-point range, and 75 percent from the charity stripe, showing his ability to stretch the floor as a big man in his lone non-injured season in the SEC.
