After a Game 2 loss which put his team down 2-0 in the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard believes the Blazers can extend the series and come back to Oracle Arena.

In the postgame press conference, Lillard said this, per ESPN:

“I doubt this will be the last time. We plan on coming back here.”

It was a tough loss for the Trail Blazers. They stormed the back-to-back defending champions in the first two quarters and were up by 15 points entering the second half. Overall, they were up by as much as 17 points. Damian Lillard was part of an excellent performance through the first two and a half quarters. The Blazers shot at or above 50 percent on threes for much of the night before finishing at 18 of 39.

Yet, they couldn't contain the Warriors' dreaded third-quarter run. Damian Lillard could only watch as Golden State made its push. Portland allowed Stephen Curry and crew to torch the Blazers for 39 points in the third quarter. Come the fourth, the Blazers weren't able to respond in the game's critical moments. Damian Lillard himself had a chance to tie the game up in the final seconds of regulation, but Andre Iguodala came up with a great defensive play, stripping him of the ball before the clock hit triple-zero.

The short-term goal for Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers was to steal at least one game in Oracle Arena. They failed and are now down 2-0. The good news is that Games 3 and 4 will be in front of their home crowd at Moda Center. If they can win back-to-back games there, then it'll be a totally different series.
