The Atlanta Braves are certainly in the midst of a World Series hangover. After losing Freddie Freeman to the Los Angeles Dodgers, their offense hasn't looked nearly the same while the pitching staff is also struggling. With the team at 22-24, they've decided to call up top prospect Michael Thomas II to hopefully add a spark to the lineup.

Thomas was a third-round selection by the Braves out of a Georgia high school in 2019 and has spent this season in Double-A with Gwinnett. The speedy outfielder is hitting .305 with five home runs and 33 RBI in 174 at-bats. He's also swiped 11 bags.

This is his first year at the Double-A level, but Thomas has continued to produce throughout his entire minor league career to this point, owning a lifetime .292 average. The Braves outfield is relatively crowded right now, however, sending down Travis Demeritte does open up a spot.

Atlanta's usual offensive weapons just aren't getting it done right now therefore it makes sense to bring in some fresh blood to compete for playing time and get some ABs. At just 21-years-old, it could take some time for Thomas to get accustomed to the big league level, especially because he's barely played over High-A. But, the Braves are definitely excited about their toolsy prospect who will wear number 23.
