Free agent center Pau Gasol has agreed to a three-year deal to return to the San Antonio Spurs, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. His deal will include a partially-guaranteed final year.

The 7-foot Spanish international had opted out of the last year of his contract prior to the start of free agency.

Gasol was the last pending piece for the Spurs to bring back after signing Patty Mills to a four-year, $50 million contract on day one of free agency and agreeing to bring back Manu Ginobili.

The departures of Jonathon Simmons and Dewayne Dedmon forced the organization to retain Gasol's services even though he's played a much-diminished role with this team than he has previously in his career.

The 37-year-old saw the worst scoring season of his career last season, putting up 12.4 points per game, but had a career-best year from the three-point line, connecting on 53.8 percent of his attempts.

Gasol has lost nearly all lateral mobility on the defensive end and isn't the prominent shot-blocker he once was during his heyday. Nowadays, he relies on his ability to carve up (limited) space on the block and his knack for the face-up game as a shooting big man.

Regardless, the 16-year pro should be able to carve an even bigger role as the starting center of the team with Dedmon out of the equation.
