The Denver Broncos wide receiver corps will look a bit different in 2019, after trading Demaryius Thomas last season and Emmanuel Sanders still recovering from his torn Achilles.

That leaves 2018 second-round pick Courtland Sutton as the Broncos' no. 1 wide receiver on the team. During his rookie year, he posted respectable numbers. He started nine of 16 games. He made 42 catches for 704 yards and four touchdowns.

Sutton knows that with Sanders rehabbing that he will assume to the role as the Broncos' top target but he will need to prove that he can be reliable. In six of his nine starts, he was limited to three catches or fewer. He has to create separation and take advantage of his size.

He's a player that has all the intangibles to succeed with good size and speed. He needs to hone his skills and start flourishing for the Broncos to be successful in 2019.

Here's what Sutton had to say to Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Post, via Pro Football Talk.

“It’s a little different,” Sutton said of expectations for his second season. “Coming in as a rookie, you’re just trying to feel it out. You don’t know what to expect. There’s nothing you can really dive through to say this is how I’m supposed to come into it. But having a year under my belt, I know what to expect from myself and what my teammates expect from me. I’m excited going into this season, knowing I’m going to get to be the No. 1. I’m going to get all that look and all that pressure. I’m excited about that. I want my teammates to look at me as that leader and that guy who is going to assume that role and take it and go with it.”

He'll have a new quarterback to catch passes from in Joe Flacco. If Sutton can start clicking and become the player the Broncos expect him to be, he could be a breakout player in 2019.
