The Denver Broncos are in full swing with their quarterback battle between Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock carrying into the preseason. This was to be expected and after Denver's dream of trading for Aaron Rodgers fizzled, the attention shifted to Lock and Bridgewater.

On Tuesday, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio laid out a blueprint for the quarterback battle, via ProFootballTalk.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio told reporters on Tuesday that Lock will start Saturday’s preseason opener against the Vikings. Fangio also said that Bridgewater will get the start when they face the Seahawks in their second game of the summer.

This isn't a surprise as Fangio said there hasn't been much separation in the Broncos quarterback battle.

Lock started 13 games for the Broncos a year ago and was less than stellar. Denver went 4-9 in his starts and Lock threw 16 touchdowns opposed to 15 interceptions. It led Denver into the offseason wondering what to do at the position and whether or not Lock could still be the answer.

While the Broncos didn't push a lot of chips into the middle of the table in the offseason to address the spot, they did acquire Teddy Bridgewater from the Panthers for a late draft pick.

Bridgewater, like Lock, was underwhelming for much of his own season in Carolina.

Some live by the saying that if you have two quarterbacks you don't have one. The Broncos are keeping their fingers crossed that one of these two will step up and emerge as the clear cut QB1 for Denver.
