For the most part, players that are traded in sports don't have a say on where they are headed, but that was different for A.J. Bouye. According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos were Bouye's preferred trade destination.

Recently, there were reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars could make Bouye a cap casualty for the team this offseason. But before they could make the move, they began receiving offers from teams for the veteran cornerback.

The Broncos, a team with a slew of draft picks, were among the teams aggressively pursuing Bouye via trade. In the end, they surrendered a 2020 fourth-round pick to land the one-time Pro Bowler.

By trading for Bouye, Denver will inherit the final two seasons of Bouye's contract with the Jaguars. Over the next two years, Bouye has a combined cap hit of $26.9 million.

At the same time, he was acquired to be the likely replacement for Chris Harris Jr. Since the end of the 2019 season, it has been a predetermined notion that Harris is going to walk in free agency. Harris has spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Broncos.

Most of the time, teams will inform a player on where they are getting sent to in a trade. However, the Jaguars kept in contact with Bouye and aided him in finding a viable landing spot.

Following the transaction, the Broncos are confident that Bouye can be a long-term solution for Vic Fangio's defense. While Denver is ecstatic to insert Bouye into their secondary, it appears that the feelings are mutual.
