The Denver Broncos have some areas to address in the offseason, and one of those is surely the future of head coach Vic Fangio. Fangio is in his third year as head coach of the Broncos, though he's yet to guide the team to a winning season. Fangio has logged a 19-28 coaching record through his first 47 games in charge. Heading into the offseason, the Broncos will have to decide whether or not to retain Fangio for the future, as his contract expires at the end of the 2022 season. Per Ian Rapoport, the team has yet to make an official decision on Fangio, whose status is considered to be “up in the air.”

After failing to make the playoffs in his first two years in charge, Fangio and the Broncos look destined to miss out once again in 2021. It's hard to place the blame squarely on his shoulders, as he's done the best he can amid the COVID-19 outbreak and injuries to key players. Still, the results aren't what the Broncos had in mind, which could mark an early exit from the franchise for Fangio.

Fangio has openly stated his desire to return to the team, even it meant coaching in 2022 without an extension in place. He has a good relationship with Broncos GM George Paton, with whom the ultimate decision on Fangio's future resides.

Still, the results are plain to see. The Broncos have not been good enough under Fangio's tutelage, and it may be time for the Broncos to explore other options should the team fail to find its footing in the final two games of the season.
