The controversy of the week in the NFL has been the endless debate surrounding Joe Flacco's recent comments. The new Denver Broncos starting quarterback made waves when he said he wasn't particularly interested in mentoring Drew Lock, who the Broncos just drafted in the second round.

It was a fairly innocent comment, and it makes sense considering Flacco is going to be fighting for the starting job every step of the way this season. Flacco already got replaced by an early draft pick last year with Lamar Jackson, so it makes sense why he's not looking to help Lock as much as he can.

The comment was blown out of proportion, and now Lock himself is pushing back on all the backlash. TMZ Sports caught up with Lock, and was able to ask him about his relationship with Flacco.

“I don't really have any comments on it,” Lock said when asked about the mentorship ordeal. Lock said that Flacco has been helpful after all, saying “he's taught me a lot so far.”

Lock seemed to understand that their roles were different at the moment, saying “he's dealing with winning football games, and I'm dealing with trying to learn.”

Finally, Lock finished by saying “he's been great to me.” It sure sounds like the whole mini-scandal was overblown, and Flacco isn't some terrible teammate or anything.

The Broncos have insisted that Flacco will enter the season as the starter, but that might not last too long if he falters. Lock will be waiting in the wings, and it's likely only a matter of time before we see the Missouri product make his debut.
