Melvin Gordon appeared at the podium to speak to Denver media Tuesday after practice. The appearance was his first and most notable, considering he chose to skip voluntary workouts with the Broncos. Most fans believed it would be best for him to attend voluntary workouts since the team has a brand new head coach and quarterback. Some Denver media personalities agreed with this notion, even going as far as calling Gordon out.

Sam Keeler of the Denver Post wrote “Depending on whom you ask, Gordon is either an underrated, strong, confident, misunderstood fantasy-league workhorse or a selfish, me-first, fumble-prone headache.” Gordon happened to see this article and took some offense to it and took to social media to air out his frustrations.

Gordon seems to have a lot on his plate at the moment. On top of vilifying the media, Gordon said recently that he doesn't plan to “lay down” in the battle for carries with Javonte Williams.

“I told [Broncos general manager George Paton] when I was at the [negotiating] table, I'm not going to lay down, I'm not going to lay down,” Gordon said.  “I've always got that mindset that I've got to go get it every year.”

“I know a lot of people want me to take the backseat and I get it,” Gordon continued. “It's been like that for a while, it was like that with the Chargers. Everybody wanted Austin [Ekeler] to start. I just come out here and do my thing. Thanks for the motivation everybody, I appreciate y'all.”

This “drama” with Melvin Gordon and the Broncos will certainly be an interesting storyline heading into the season.
