Former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway was also a part of the front office that constructed the early 2010's Broncos teams that went to two super bowls and won one of them. The best receiver on the team during that time was Demaryius Thomas. Upon learning about Thomas' sudden passing on Thursday, Elway released this statement on Twitter:

Thomas was a five-time pro-bowler and one of the greatest receivers in Broncos franchise history. After being born and raised in Georgia and attending Georgia Tech, Thomas was a first-round pick in the 2011 draft by Denver. That draft is now infamous for the Broncos' first-round selection form that year, Tim Tebow, but it was the selection of Thomas that ultimately paved the way for the Broncos' first title since Elway was the quarterback. Thomas also caught the game-winning walk-off touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2012 playoffs. marking perhaps the peak of Tebow-Mania.

Thomas had experienced health problems following a car crash in 2019, and police and family say that his death was attributed to a “medical issue” possibly related to seizures. We will keep you updated as everything unfolds, but for now, the sad reality is that we are all now without one of the greats of the 2010 decade, one of the greatest Broncos of all time, and judging by how much love he has received on social media and an even better person off the field. Thomas would have turned 34 on Christmas day and will surely be inducted into the Broncos Ring-of-Fame in the future.
