Denver Broncos general manager John Elway had to take a leave of absence from the team after testing positive for COVID-19, but he wants to ensure the fan base he is in good spirits.

Elway shared a photo to his Twitter on Friday, thanking the fans for their support and also declaring he is back to work.

The legendary Broncos staple and Hall of Fame quarterback was hoping his offseason moves would pay larger dividends than they have thus far.

Elway made a number of significant moves to bolster the defense, acquiring A.J. Bouye from the Jacksonville Jaguars and also trading for Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jurrell Casey.

The Broncos then used the draft to provide weapons for quarterback Drew Lock. Elway selected former Alabama star Jerry Jeudy in the first round, and followed by taking Penn State speedster K.J. Hamler.

But injuries have caused a great deal of frustration.

Franchise staple and former All-Pro defensive end Von Miller is likely out for the year after suffering a preseason knee injury. Star wide receiver Courtland Sutton was lost for the year in Week 1, and Casey followed after suffering a biceps tear in Week 3. Lock also missed time due to a shoulder injury.

But the Broncos are still fighting for a playoff position. Denver sits at 3-5, and is also entering the meaty part of its schedule, highlighted by back-to-back games against the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12 and Week 13, respectively.

Elway will hope his team can pick up a big road win on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
