Do we have a winner? Or, at the very least, do we now possess a clear preseason poll favorite? It's possible that we do after taking in the words so easily rolled out of the mouth of soon-to-be NFL free agent Kirk Cousins.

It appears that Cousins would love to play for the Denver Broncos, according to Mike Klis of News 9 in Denver.

“I’m going to keep my eyes and ears open to anything and open,’’ Cousins said in a friendly manner after pushing the elevator button and waiting for the enormous bank to arrive. “I’m in the information-gathering stage at this point.’’

“I would hope any team is interested and would love it if Denver is interested,’’ he said.

OK, so Cousins didn't come right out and say something like, “I love Denver. It's my top choice.” He also lumped in “I love any team is interested” along with the headline grabber that is “would love it if Denver is interested.” But still, this lone quote is more information we've received about Cousins' preferences than we've been equipped with over the last several weeks tallied up.

Cousins, 29, hails from Barrington, Illinois and attended Michigan State. Rarey does a franchise-type quarterback hit the NFL open market yet here comes Cousins at just the right time. With the NFL salary cap expected to balloon to $178 million in 2018, initial reports have the soon-to-be former Washington Redskins quarterback ready to cash in the most lucrative quarterback deal in NFL history.

Among the teams interested are the aforementioned Broncos, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings. It's all but certain that Cousins will be moving shortly due to the Alex Smith trade that shocked the senses earlier in the week.

In 2017, Kirk Cousins threw for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns with 13 interceptions while leading his squad to a below-average 7-9 record in the NFC East.
