Heading into the 2020 NFL season, there seems to be a ton of confidence in Drew Lock becoming a franchise quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Contrary to what some believe, Kurt Warner isn't sold on Lock as a starting quarterback yet.

While making an appearance on Broncos Country Tonight, Warner spoke about the hype surrounding Lock:

“Based on what I saw last season from Drew, I think he’s got a ways to go. I think he’s got some learning to do, more consistency to build, which is always the case with young QBs. But we all saw moments, right?” Warner insisted. “We saw some big plays that he made and we saw that big arm come out at different times…and made some special plays. And so I think there is enough there to go on, to say, ‘Hey we saw enough things and our record was good enough with him as our starter.'”

Last offseason, the Broncos used the No. 42 pick of the 2019 NFL Draft to select Lock out of Missouri. However, his rookie campaign would get off to a shaky start after suffering a thumb injury in the preseason.

But with veteran Joe Flacco sustaining a neck injury, Lock would make his debut with Denver in Week 13 versus the Los Angeles Chargers. When it was all said and done, Lock would make five starts to end the 2019 NFL season.

Over the course of those five starts, Lock threw for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. Above all, he led the Broncos to a 4-1 record in his five starts under center.

While he flashed upside as a rookie, Warner wants to see more before he labels Lock as a success.
