The Broncos will face the Chiefs without Melvin Gordon this weekend. The running back has been dealing with shoulder and hip injuries that forced him to miss practice all week. He went from being 50-50 questionable, to 75-25 doubtful, to 100% out for Sunday night. The Broncos updated his status Saturday afternoon.

Broncos rookie Javonte Williams can expect to see a lot more playing time in Gordon's absence. Head Coach Vic Fangio told the media on Friday that Williams will start no matter what in Gordon's place (if Gordon was downgraded from doubtful to out).

Denver isn't the only team in the rivalry that is dealing with running back trouble. Chiefs star running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is still a huge question mark for the Chiefs in Week 13. His practice participation was not listed for the week, but he was listed as questionable for game day due to an illness. If Edwards-Helaire is unable to play, this might make the matchup a little more even for the Broncos.

Even if Edwards-Helaire is able to play Sunday, Williams is a promising replacement for Gordon. He has proven himself to be an effective part of the Broncos' offense in his first 11 games in the NFL. Williams has a total of 761 offensive yards and three touchdowns so far this season.
