Denver Broncos rookie receiver KJ Hamler will be sidelined for a couple of weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury during training camp, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold.

Hamler, who was the Broncos' second-round pick in this year's NFL Draft, has already been impressive in his first few weeks in training camp. Hamler showcased his electric speed against a defender last week during a video the Broncos posted on their social media.

Nevertheless, Broncos general manager John Elway was very ecstatic about selecting Hamler with their second pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

“We've taken WR KJ Hamler from Penn State with the 46th overall pick,” Elway said after the draft. “He's an electric player with excellent speed and high character. KJ's also an outstanding kickoff and punt returner who can help us on special teams.”

Hamler was very effective on the field during his two years at Penn State, recording 96 career receptions for 1,658 yards and 14 total touchdowns. The Broncos will surely be missing a vital piece in Hamler, so hopefully, returns as planned.

In addition to Hamler, running back Melvin Gordon (ribs), linebacker Von Miller (elbow), and Todd Davis also sustained injuries during training camp. According to reporters, Davis was carted off the field with a left leg injury. As for Gordon and Miller, they left practice early on Thursday and there is no word on whether they'll miss additional time.

The Broncos are slated to play their first regular season game against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 14.
