The Denver Broncos are trekking through the final portion of another disappointing season, missing the playoffs for the second straight year. Denver will go through the last two games of the regular season without the services of linebacker Shane Ray, who is heading to the injured reserve list following wrist surgery, according to James Palmer of the NFL Network.

Ray went under the knife for surgery on his wrist for the third time on Friday, as doctors removed the screws previously inserted after he played in last Thursday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Ray began the season on the IR and didn't take the field until October 30th against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In response to the announcement, Ray took to Twitter to voice his optimism about the situation, with eyes toward being fully healthy to return next season.

In eight games played this season, Ray had 16 total tackles with one sack and two run stuffs. This is a significant step down in production from the year prior where he registered a career-high 8.0 sacks, 48 tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a fumble return for a touchdown.

The 24-year-old's absence will likely push more importance on the play of All-Pro outside linebacker Von Miller to provide pass-rush pressure against the Washington Redskins.
