At some point, John Elway will have to take some blame for it, but for the time being head coach Vance Joseph is going to answer for some serious issues. Those issues? The Denver Broncos are currently operating in the National Football League without a competent quarterback behind center.

On Sunday, the Broncos got smoked by the Philadelphia Eagles. Without context, that isn't the worst thing in the world, as the Eagles are arguably the best team in the entire NFL. At the same time, with context, Denver is now seeing its defense (its usual lone consistent good thing) regress, and the quarterback situation remains a debacle.

This is not lost on Vance Joseph, who wasn't committing to any of his quarterbacks following the loss.

It is a tricky situation for Denver at the moment. Brock clearly looks broken, Trevor Siemian is turnover-prone, and Paxton Lynch is basically Tim Tebow, but just taller and a pirate (and also still hurt).

To his credit, Osweiler lamented his mistakes, saying “there are plenty of things I wish I would have done different,” but he knows he isn't guaranteed his spot.

“I think every player plays to be the starter so I would love to continue to start for this team,” he said.

Rookie Chad Kelly, who is by no one's expectation the solution at the position, is about to be shut down for the remainder of the season.

The Broncos are in real trouble of missing the playoffs this season. A real shame, as the defense's window appears to be closing.
