The Denver Broncos have reached a deal with the Carolina Panthers, shipping quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the blue and orange while the powder blue and white receive a sixth-round pick. Let’s talk about the Teddy Bridgewater trade.

This news was brought to the NFL fans by numerous people, but it appears this man had it first.

Teddy Bridgewater Trade To Broncos

The story is still developing, so it’s unknown if there’s other moving parts. If there is, we’ll update this post later when more information becomes available.

The Panthers side of this discussion isn’t that interesting other than the fact they only got a sixth-rounder for Teddy Bridgewater. They’re likely eyeing the future and probably have a certain gunslinger in mind.

As for the Denver Broncos, there’s a lot to unpack. John Elway has a history of bringing in wayward gunslingers, as harshly noted in our recent piece on the matter. From that piece on Elway’s history:

2016 was the insanely weird Trevor Siemian and sky-pirate Paxton Lynch era; 2017 was much of the same but also bringing Brock back for some ungodly reason; then in 2018 Elway put a ton of chips on Case Keenum because lord knows Elway loves betting on gunslingers based off small sample sizes; then in 2019 Elway tried to redo the Manning magic by bringing in an incredibly washed Joe Flacco to take over the helm with Drew Lock initially stuck to the bench.

Does this mean the end of the Drew Lock era in Denver? Maybe. It could also just mean bringing in experience to keep up with him. What it does seem to rule out, though, are the Broncos selecting a QB come the 2021 NFL Draft. With Elway at the helm, though, you just never really know.

A famed ESPN reporter does have the Broncos still in the mix come the draft.
