People had to keep celebrating it, so blame them. Longtime Cleveland Browns offensive lineman, and only reason to even care about the inept franchise, Joe Thomas is officially done for the season.

“MRI reveals torn tricep tendon. Surgery soon. Tough break.” The franchise left tackle tweeted.

Joe Thomas was taken out in the third quarter of his team's game with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday after suffering the triceps injury. Obviously, he never returned to the game.

The lineman had played in 10,363 consecutive snaps. That is the longest streak in the history of the National Football League, but it is no longer an active one. It has instead gone the way of the dinosaurs.

Words can't describe how sad this must be for fans who root for the Cleveland Browns for two key reasons.

  1. Sorry. You're a fan of the Browns.
  2. Joe Thomas was/is everything (the very little everything) that is good with the franchise.

Thomas has one more year and $10 million remaining on his contract with the Browns. It is worth bringing that up, as it would be understandable if Thomas wants to get out of dodge to play meaningful football before his career was over. Some were — mostly through conjecture — assuming Cleveland would even shop him around after this past weekend.

Spencer Drango will likely fill in the for the franchise talent. It’s a big step down from Thomas, but isn't like the Browns have a ton of options.

Here is to hoping the Cleveland legend (?) makes a quick and full recovery.
