Many NFL players have been announcing that they will be kneeling during the national anthem this season. And now we can add another player who has confirmed he will be joining in the peaceful protests in 2020: Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield took to social media to respond to a fan asking whether or not he would kneel (via ESPN's Adam Schefter):

Mayfield gave a very short but powerful response. He clearly was not very happy with the fan's question. Or at least, he was not happy with the way he asked.

But the Browns quarterback gave a very direct response to the actual question: “I absolutely am.”

Mayfield is kneeling. It does not sound like he needed any convincing on the matter. He is ready to protest in solidarity with his league-mates and Browns teammates and take a stand on the field against racism and police brutality.

This could be a very divisive NFL season. There will undoubtedly be fans who do not agree with the players' choice to protest. At the same time, there will likely be some players, coaches and owners in the league who do not agree either. However, there has been a lot of support for players who are choosing to demonstrate on the field in the upcoming season from numerous coaches, including the Browns' Kevin Stefanski.

Now we know that we can count Mayfield as one of the Browns and NFL players who will be taking a knee in protest this season.
