As the anticipation for the release of EA Sports' Madden 21 is slowly building, player ratings have been announced (officially and unofficially) in the past few days. Unfortunately for Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback, Baker Mayfield, he failed to make an impression.

Mayfield not only didn't make the top 10-rated quarterbacks for this year's Madden installment, but he also was unable to make the top 10-rated Browns.

Per Browns Wire (via usatoday.com), an initial top 10 list of player ratings for Cleveland has been leaked, and the third-year quarterback is nowhere to be found. Myles Garret was on top of the list with a 93 overall followed by Nick Chubb (92), Odell Beckham Jr. (91), Austin Hooper (90), and running back Kareem Hunt (87) rounded out the Browns' top 5. Cornerback Denzel Ward got an 86 and landed at number six while Joel Bitonio (86), Jarvis Landry (85), Olivier Vernon (82), and Sheldon Richardson (81) completed the top 10.

Madden tagged Mayfield with an 81 rating upon entering the league in 2018. After an outstanding rookie year for Cleveland, winning the league's Offensive Rookie of The Year Award, the Texas native got bumped to an 83 coming into last year's Madden release. Unfortunately, the young quarterback hit some sort of sophomore slump and had a rather subpar second year for Cleveland. From a passing rate of 93.7 in the 2018 season, Mayfield's averages plummeted to a 78.8 by the end of his second season. His in-field play also affected his Madden ratings, where he saw his initial 83 rating slowly drop and plateau to 76 by Week 15.

Hopefully, Mayfield steps up big time on his third year and looks passed all the criticisms to give the Browns a solid season. At the end of the day, actual success in the NFL should be more valuable than any video game rating out there.
