Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield returned to practice on Monday according to Scott Petrak of BrownsZone.com.

Mayfield sat out last week's practice during the bye week to rest the hip injury. Mayfield probably could have practiced last week if the team would have had a game, but with the bye week, the team decided to be extra careful with their franchise quarterback.

Mayfield and the Browns will take on the New England Patriots in Week 8 in Foxborough. After an impressive rookie season, Mayfield has gone through a bit of a sophomore slump and the job isn't going to get any easier against Bill Belichick.

This season Mayfield has completed only 56.6 percent of his passes throwing for 1,496 yards, five touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The spectacular throws he completed last year are ending in interceptions this year, and it has raised a lot of eyebrows about his play.

When Mayfield steps on the field on Sunday his wallet is going to be a little lighter. Mayfield was fined $15,000 by the league for his comments after the team's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

“The refs are never an excuse”, Mayfield told reporters via 247 Sports, “I will probably get fined for saying this, but it was pretty bad today. The guy squared up with him, running at him, and he is lowering his head into Jarvis. What is he supposed to do? Avoid him? This is not bullfighting… it ticks me off”.

Maybe Mayfield should focus on what he can control, like not throwing interceptions instead of what the refs are doing.
