The Cleveland Browns throughout the NFL offseason have steadily reshaped their roster to help their effort in pushing forward for a much-improved 2018 campaign.

With that in mind, Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network is reporting that the Browns have decided to bring in former CFL defensive back Jordan Holland for a workout on Wednesday.

Beyond playing in the CFL with the Edmonton Eskimos last season, he has some NFL connections with being the son of Johnny Holland, who is currently the San Francisco 49ers outside linebackers coach/run game specialist coach. He had also previously played in the league as a former second-round pick in the 1987 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers where he played in 103 games recording more than 100 tackles with 3.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, 15 fumble recoveries, and nine interceptions over sevens seasons at right outside linebacker.

Cleveland's decision to bring in Holland was likely a move to provide more depth in the secondary next season to improve their team in that aspect of the defense. The front office has spent much of the offseason retooling their cornerback group by adding former Ohio State standout Denzel Ward with the fourth overall pick in this year's draft while signing E.J. Gaines and Justin Durrie along with trading for Damarious Randall.

This is likely to bring in more competition in training camp all the way through the preseason where he could have a shot to latch onto an NFL roster in sort of capacity. With there still being a few weeks until the team convenes, this may be a move to provide more depth to the roster.
