After trading for Deshaun Watson, the Cleveland Browns are looking to make a deep run and build a strong team that can compete in an increasingly competitive AFC. While not equally as important as landing Watson, it's key that the Browns find a suitable backup.

An insurance policy will be extra important for the Browns to have. Watson may be facing a suspension if the NFL finds that he violated their personal conduct policy. They found a solid backup for their new franchise star. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are expected to sign Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal. They traded Case Keenum to the Buffalo Bills, too, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Brissett spent last season with the Miami Dolphins after spending four with the Indianapolis Colts. In five starts last season, he threw for 1,283 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. He has two full seasons of starting under his belt. Since Watson may miss a big chunk of the season, the Browns are wise to bring in an experienced QB.

With Brissett joining Cleveland, Baker Mayfield's trade is the next order of business. He requested to be moved before the Watson deal and the trade now ensures that his time in The Land is over. The assets the browns get back for him will help replenish the assets they sent to the Houston Texans in order to get Watson.

The impact Brissett has on the Browns will be known only when the NFL decided how long Watson's suspension will be or if he gets injured. Still, he is a very strong backup and it never hurts to have one of them.
