Since the day he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns, Colin Cowherd has been very critical of Baker Mayfield. Now, another analyst on Fox Sports has issues with how Mayfield carries himself.

During his show First Things First, former NFL wide receiver Cris Carter stated that he wants Mayfield to adjust his mannerisms off of the field. Carter believes Mayfield is a rare leader for the Browns though.

Even before joining the Browns, Mayfield had a “take no prisoners” approach at Oklahoma. His swagger and style of leadership has rubbed some people the wrong way since his arrival in the NFL.

In 2018, Mayfield began the season as the backup quarterback to Tyrod Taylor. At the time, Hue Jackson was still the head coach and had the ultimate say to who the starter was.

Then, an injury to Taylor in Week 3 against the New York Jets paved the way for Mayfield to revive the Browns. The rookie gunslinger was tasked with attempting to bring Cleveland back from a 14-3 deficit at halftime. To keep it short, the confident, rookie quarterback delivered.

After taking his first snap, the Browns seemed to have new life as Mayfield led the way to a 21-17 victory. The rest is history as Mayfield would go on to break the rookie-record of 27 passing touchdowns in 2018.

This offseason, Mayfield hasn't wavered or changed his attitude despite the unusual expectations surrounding the Browns in 2019. The expectations arrived when the team landed Odell Beckham Jr. in a surprising trade earlier this offseason.

Since arriving in Cleveland, Mayfield has accepted his role as the face of the city. Recently, Mayfield even shotgunned a beer at a Cleveland Indians game to get the crowd animated. Mayfield showed teeth of steel as he forced a hole into the can to chug the alcoholic beverage.

For years, the Browns have been longing for a franchise quarterback who embraces the challenge of upheaving the Browns from irrelevancy. They have just that in Baker Mayfield.
