Did Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry guarantee a win against the New England Patriots?

Earlier this week, Landry was asked how the Browns were going to perform after their bye week (which was last weekend), and he responded by saying that Cleveland was “going to win.”

He didn't mention the Patriots, who the Browns will be playing on Sunday, specifically, so it's entirely possible that Landry was just speaking about what his club was going to do over the second half of the season. But the media didn't take it that way, and apparently, Pats head coach Bill Belichick has already informed his players about Landry's comments.

Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens addressed Landry's statement on Friday:

“I would like to address that,” Kitchens said, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I think I do a pretty good job of communicating with you guys and telling you as much as I can from a truth perspective. I would just like the same in return from you guys when you are talking to our players.

“Everybody in here knows that Jarvis was not guaranteeing a win. He was asked what do you want to accomplish after the bye, and he stated we would like to go win or something in that realm. New England was never mentioned so for you guys to do that, I think it was very unfair.”

Kitchens went on to add that “we do not guarantee anything.”

Well, regardless of what Landry actually meant, word has already gotten to the Patriots' locker room that the wideout may have guaranteed a victory in Foxborough.

We'll see how that goes this weekend.

Cleveland is 2-4 and is in desperate need of a victory.
