The Cleveland Browns signed wide receiver Jaelen Strong last week, and after Strong spent the 2018 campaign out of football, he is grateful to return to the gridiron.

“Cleveland gave me the opportunity,” said Strong, according to Nick Shook of the Browns' official team website. “I was just thankful that they accepted me with open arms and welcomed me to the team. It really wasn't a choice. Soon as I got there, the love that they were showing and everything just made me feel welcome.”

Strong is also excited to work with Baker Mayfield, who had one of the more impressive seasons we have seen from a rookie quarterback in quite some time this past year.

“He's a winner,” said Strong. “He's a championship player and the fact that he's a leader and I'm excited to be able to share a locker room with guys like him and Jarvis (Landry), those guys I look forward to getting in touch with and building the chemistry and most importantly, learning. Doing whatever I can do to help Cleveland become a better team.”

Strong, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State University, was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the third round (70th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in 10 games during his rookie campaign, catching 14 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns. He then snared 14 balls for 131 yards the following season.

The 25-year-old then split the 2017 season between the Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars, finishing with just three catches for 38 yards.
