For the second consecutive week, there has been a player or coach to guarantee a win. While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Jarvis Landry of the Cleveland Browns guaranteed a win over the New England Patriots but then retracted his statement.

The Browns wide receiver clarified his comment by exclaiming that he meant to say that Cleveland was “going there to win”. Just last week, Doug Pederson made a similar remark about how the Philadelphia Eagles were going to defeat the Dallas Cowboys.

But just as Landry did, Pederson quickly responded by saying that he never assured a win over the Cowboys. Nevertheless, the Eagles were dismantled by Dallas on Sunday Night Football 37-10.

As for Landry, it's wise for him to recant what he said to where there isn't any added fuel to the proverbial fire for the Patriots. Even though, New England doesn't need any more motivation as they are 13-point favorites against the Browns on Sunday.

The Patriots are coming into this game with a 12-game winning streak dating back to last season. Additionally, they've outscored their opponents 223-48 in the first seven weeks. On the other hand, the Browns are desperate to get back into the win column; after beginning the season with a 2-4 record.

With that being said, it's best if Cleveland lets their play on the field do the talking for them. Guaranteeing a win would just make Bill Belichick's defense play even tougher in Week 8.

Despite taking back what he said, the members of the Patriots could still use that as bulletin-board material. Good luck Baker Mayfield.
