Cleveland Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway finally caught a bit of a break, as a news report confirms that the pot charges against him were dropped.

According to TMZ, the original charges against Callaway stemmed from a traffic stop while he was away at training camp. He was able to use the “it's not mine” defense when the police found a bag of marijuana in the car, as his car had just been shipped from Florida to Ohio.

Initially, he'd been charged with misdemeanor possession, but ultimately pleaded it down to probation because he was found guilty of driving with a suspended license.

But even though he's skated, briefly, away from more serious charges, Antonio Callaway's career still hangs in a bit of balance.

Per NBC Sports, Callaway's drama has led to a threat in his professional standing.

“He was a first-round talent based on his play, but a string of incidents at Florida led to his suspension, and he fell to the fourth round of the draft. Since that stop, he was also pulled over for speeding (58 in a 35 en route to a game), which wouldn’t be a big deal except he was apparently doing that with a suspended license as well, and the pattern of behavior.”

Antonio Callaway is still subject to penalty from the league for this incident, as well, and the league punishment isn't bound by legal findings (which means that they can rule to bench or suspend him, even though he wasn't found guilty in a court of law).
