By now everyone and their mothers have seen the fight between the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not only that, but they've probably given their thoughts on the matter as well.
Add Shannon Sharpe to that list.
On his show Undisputed with Skip Bayless, the issue was widely discussed. And Sharpe had some words of wisdom for Garrett.
“Don't let this define you.”
That might be the best piece of advice Garrett can get. He already made the terrible mistake, now all he can do is move forward.
The best way to move forward would be to show that this isn't who you are.
As Sharpe points out, a lot of people today hear the name “Mean Joe Green” and think of the soda commercial. They see him as this smiling man.
In games though, he got that nickname for a reason. Sharpe points to him ripping off helmets and kicking people in the groin.
Now it's time for Garrett to flip the script on his story too. This will be a hard thing to make people forget. However, Garrett was pretty well-liked by the fans before this. So all hope is not exactly lost.
For now, Garrett is suspended indefinitely. He'll likely be out for the rest of the year, and it would not be all that surprising if he even missed at least a chunk of 2020 as well.
Due to that, he will have more than enough time to figure it all out. Let's see if he can take Sharpe's smart advice, and not let this moment define him.
