Browns rumors: Cleveland feels good about signing Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas

The Cleveland Browns just won’t stop. They’ve already added Sheldon Richardson and Odell Beckham Jr. today, and they apparently aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Cleveland is “feeling good” about their “chances to land Earl Thomas,” according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Thomas is the top remaining safety left on the market, and one of the biggest names left overall. Other safeties like Landon Collins and Adrian Amos got gobbled up quickly, but Thomas has been taking his time. He’s reportedly seeking the most money ever for a safety and is waiting for a team to meet his demands.

The Browns have the cap space to make it happen and have been extremely aggressive so far, so it’s a natural fit. Thomas is looking for a new team after spending the first nine years of his career with the Seahawks. Thomas went down with a broken leg that ended his year early last season, but he remained his normal dominant self.

In just four games with Seattle, he picked off three passes. If the Browns do land him, the internet might explode. It would be the most prolific day of action for one team in quite some time.

Dez Bryant tweeted out that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Thomas went to Cleveland, and now there’s more fuel to the fire.

Browns GM John Dorsey has done an incredible job turning the team around in such a short period of time, and the Browns are stacking talent at a breathtaking pace. The Browns will be one of the most buzzed-about teams this offseason, and signing Thomas would take that to an even higher level.
