The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Chris Godwin is anxious to work with Tom Brady.

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the two have been unable to meet in person or work out together. Despite the uncertainty of the current climate of the country, Godwin spoke of his eagerness in playing with the best QB of all time.

“I think the biggest thing in terms of getting adjusted will be having conversations with Tom and trying to get a feel for what he likes from receivers and what he expects,” Godwin added, “and make sure we’re on the same page.”

The Buccaneers are coming off of a 7-9 campaign and their 12th straight non-playoff season. Although their 2019 record was underwhelming, this is a team that possesses a ton of talent. In fact, one could argue Tampa Bay has the best receiving duo in the NFL in Pro Bowlers Godwin and Mike Evans.

With the addition of Brady, the Buccaneers are becoming a trendy pick to win the NFC South. Despite the high expectations, Godwin wants to temper them by reminding himself that the Buccaneers still have to actually prove it on the field.

“Preseason expectations are cool to talk about, but at the end of the day we still have to put in a lot of work to get to where we want to be,” Godwin said Thursday. “All that stuff on paper looks really cool. But if we go out there and stink it up, it will be for nothing.”

Godwin did mention that he has at least spoken to Brady on the phone since he signed.

“The only thing I’ve been able to do so far is our initial phone conversations. I’m looking forward to whenever we can talk (after) this virus calms down.”

The Buccaneers have mustered a combined record of 17-31 since Godwin entered the NFL back in 2017. With Brady under center, Tampa Bay's fortunes are about to change drastically.
