It has been nothing short of a topsy-turvy type of season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that has featured plenty of ups and down through the year.

A sizable chunk of these issues has stemmed from their offense that has had some inconsistent play, which has once again led to head coach Dirk Koetter assuming the playcalling duties in Sunday's 16-3 loss to the Washington Redskins, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

In his press conference following Sunday’s 16-3 loss to Washington, Koetter said that he took offensive playcalling duties back from Monken during the game. Monken took over those duties this season and held them through the first eight games before Koetter stepped back

Although Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for more than 400 yards in the contest, and he led the team on just one scoring drive while throwing a pair of interceptions in the contest. It was a struggle for the Buccaneers to move the ball down the field with four turnovers while failing to convert all five red zone trips. It was simply a disastrous outing that the team had the chance to take advantage of the situation in front of them at home.

There have been plenty of issues for Tampa Bay that have led to them dropping six out of their first nine games played this season, including their last three straight games. It has become something that has quickly gone sideways as the season has worn on. The Buccaneers have the talent at the wide receiver position to have a potent passing attack, but it hasn't equated to that consistently.

What this may signal more than anything else is that the Buccaneers could be headed toward a coaching this upcoming offseason if things continue to move in this direction. For the time being, it looks like Koetter will be calling the plays as the acting offensive coordinator.
