Apparently former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette won't be leaving the state of Florida after all, as the veteran rusher reportedly has a new home. According to a Wednesday evening report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Fournette has agreed to a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are obviously on a major upswing this offseason.

Schefter also made a point to note that the newly inked pact is an “agreement in principle on a one-year deal.”

The 25-year-old Fournette was released by the Jaguars earlier in the week as Jacksonville openly admitted that the lowly AFC South franchise could not ultimately find a trade partner for the former first-round draft pick. As a result, the Jaguars let him hit the open market just a few weeks before Week 1 of the 2020 regular season.

However, it was becoming the beginning of the end for Fournette in Jacksonville since last offseason as the Jaguars notably declined his fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

Nonetheless, Fournette will now join the surging Buccaneers, a team that now has a litany of superstars under his control. In addition to Fournette, the Buccaneers also managed to sign future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady and trade for longtime New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski earlier this offseason, who came out of retirement to reunite with his ex-teammate.

The Buccaneers have wide receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans on the roster as well with Tampa Bay quickly becoming one of the favorites in both the NFC and division ahead of the 2020 campaign.
