Seeing Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans back on the field is becoming a greater possibility by the day. He was initially listed as doubtful and upgraded to questionable before eventually being deemed likely to play on Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. His potential return, however, will most likely include a ‘pitch count' that will limit him since he is still nursing a hamstring injury.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported the developments on Evans' injury on Twitter:

Even if unhealthy, Mike Evans is still someone to keep an eye on for the opposing defense. His explosive play for Tampa Bay has already established himself as a potent threat on the field.

The Texas A&M standout is not a stranger to facing adversity. Last season, he played on the field despite still recovering from the flu. He also nursed a hamstring injury for a few weeks before completely being shut down for the rest of the season in Week 14. Despite the setbacks, the Tampa Bay wideout still managed to snag his third trip to the Pro Bowl and exceeded the 1,000 receiving yard mark for the sixth-straight season.

The seven-year veteran will still aim to contribute to the Buccaneers offense in an important game against a contender like the Saints. At the end of the day, quarterback Tom Brady still has the luxury of having multiple weapons on the field available at his disposal. Buccaneers fans shall see if Evans will indeed suit up and be able to make an impact on the opening game against their NFC South division rival.
