Rob Gronkowski is still undecided whether or not he wants to continue playing. If he opts to extend his career a little bit longer, though, he has no other team but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his mind.

According to Lanae Brody (via B/R Gridiron), Gronkowski made it a point to emphasize that if he decided to return for another season in the NFL, “it would definitely be with the Bucs.”

Interestingly, this comes after he revealed that he has not yet started any contract discussions with the Buccaneers, noting that he wants to decide first whether he wants to play or not before getting to such talks. It definitely makes sense since Rob Gronkowski probably doesn't want to waste anyone's time discussing terms and numbers of the deal, only to back out and decide he wants to retire for good.

“That will start if I decide that I want to play. There’s no reason to do that while there’s a decision to be made first. It’s all about if I decide to,” Gronk explained on his mindset on contract talks.

For what it's worth, Gronk has sent some mixed signals on what he really wants to do–which is proof that he is still undecided. Most recently, he admitted that he is not yet ready to commit to the game, adding that his mentality is not on catching football right now.

“I knew if I started catching some passes that my head would have started turning, like, ‘Oh, crap, I got to get back out on the field,'” Gronk said. “And, right now, I’m not ready to get back out on that field. I’m not ready to commit to the game of football right now.”

Meanwhile, after Tom Brady chose to return to the Buccaneers, Gronk shared how he is going to make the QB sweat first before making his decision–much like what TB12 did when he retired, only to return a month later. While he did say it as a joke, it suggests that he is also considering a big return to the field alongside his longtime partner in crime.

“I’ll let him have a little scare. Give him a couple months without me. … He just did it to me for a couple of months; I’m gonna do it to him now,” the veteran tight end said.

As it currently stands, it's only Rob Gronkowski (and probably the people close to him) who knows where he is leaning when it comes to his future in the NFL. He has done a great job hiding what he really wants to do, and so fans cannot do anything but wait for an official announcement from him to know what's the next step.

For now, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will also have to be patient. Besides, they need Gronk to be as committed as he has ever been if they want to make things work between him and Brady.

One thing is for sure, though. If Gronkowski chooses to play again and return to Tampa Bay to resume his partnership with Brady, the Buccaneers will be more than ready to give him an offer fitting of his stature and what he has achieved in the league. He definitely deserves that kind of treatment, anyway.

Now the waiting game begins.
